Here are a few photographs of my summer sketchbook so far. The theme is Inspiration so I have started with flowers as they are my main inspiration within my work...

Introductory Surface Design - Part 2...

For this part of the module we had to pick a period style which we were wanting to use within our work. I chose Rococo as it is my favorite period style...Above are my rococo influenced visual research sheets.

From these visual research sheets we had to design repeat patterns for our furnishing fabric. All of my designs are half drop repeats but some of them have different repeat sizes depending on the imagery I have used within them.

Once I had chosen which of the above designs I wanted to produce into a furnishing length, I had to create my design in repeat by drawing it repeatedly onto graph paper.

From the graph I then had to produce a koda-trace which is then exposed onto a silk screen ready to be printed onto my 3 metre length. Below are some photos of my koda-trace and screen.

Introductory Surface Design - Part 1...

  
On all of my embellished garment shapes (above) I have used hand embroidery on the petals/ flower heads as well as using machine embroidery on all the stems/leaves.

Introductory Surface Design...

I am currently in the middle of doing my 3rd module - Introductory Surface Design. In Part 1 of the module I had to produce 3 garment shapes for high end fashion... These are still on going! Part 2 of the module I am producing a 3 metre printed length in my chosen period style which is Rococo. 

Above is a picture of my work bay at uni. The work in the middle is from Part 2 of the module (A1 drawing sheets and paper layouts for printed length) and at the side of my bay is some of my work from Part 1 of the module (paper layouts of garment shapes). Once I have completed all of the module I will post some photos of all finished work!

Koda-Trace...

These are the drawings I chose to use for my koda-trace. I then exposed these images onto my screen, using the exposure unit we have within my college.
